So you're also not okay with people eating pork or shellfish or cutting their hair or tattoos or wearing poly-cotton blends, et cetera, et cetera. Merde alors, what a load of horse manure.

I've never heard the King's Singers live, but their recordings are positively amazing for the enormous and varied span of their repertoire and the artful precision of their performances. That some Christian college would prefer to get bent out of shape about one member's sexual orientation speaks far more to that college's bigotry and narrow-mindedness than anything else.

The other really sad thing is that the students of Pensacola Christian College lost out in not being able to enjoy the King's Singers' performance. That they were robbed of that opportunity ticks me off very nearly as much as the stupidity of Pensacola Christian College's cancelling of the event.

Anyone else wondering about the student who "sounded the alarm"? He seemed a little freaked out. Worried about temptation, seeing a happy gay man in the flesh? Instead of the frightened, miserable gay men he meets on campus.

"Sincerely Held Beliefs" is just another propaganda dog whistle to display Christian hatred against people with different sexual orientation who do nothing to hurt people.

Heck! "Sincerely Held Beliefs" is the very same language Christian Bakers use as an excuse for refusing to bake a cake for a gay couple.

Even the people objecting to the cancelation get it wrong. Hannah writes, "Although, I can honestly say that I do not support that kind of lifestyle, I would never judge you."

Sounds like a judgement to me. And, it's not a "lifestyle".

If you're afraid that merely seeing a gay person sing a song will somehow make you gay... honey, I've got some ๐˜ฃ๐˜ข๐˜ฅ news about that small, dark room you're hiding in.

For a religion that claims to have an awesome god that is supposed to be their rock, strength and shield, Christians keep revealing themselves to be panicky little snowflakes over something that has no effect on their lives whatsoever.

Perhaps these scaredycats are secretly afraid of their own...urges. Who knew that gay people have more power over Christians than their own god?

Again with that word "lifestyle." A lifestyle requires a choice. Being gay (or straight or bi or any other sexual orientation) is not a choice. Wanna know what IS a lifestyle/choice, Christians? Your religion. All religions.

Lifestyle. You keep using that word...

PCC also canceled a Lady Eagles basketball game. Turns out that one of the opposing player's second cousin's butcher's neighbor owns several Bette Midler albums.

Ha ha ha ha! Calling his orientation a lifestyle isnโ€™t judging? Reducing him to his orientation isnโ€™t judging? Sure, youโ€™re upset over the cancellation but you still had to comment on his being gay. You are not much better than the school and nothing like your Jesus. But you are certainly Christian.

"The college cannot knowingly give an implied or direct endorsement of anything that violates the Holy Scripture"

Well in Matthew 19 Jesus says that everyone should be celibate, love their neighbor as themselves, and give away all their money. I doubt the President or any of the school's employed staff follow the first and third, and the school's cancellation is a direct refutation of the second (they let themselves go to the school, don't they?)

So, just another day in fundie hypocrisyville. As Bierce said, Christians are defined as people who think the Gospel's moral strictures are admirably suited for their neighbors.

founding

Modern American Christianity: Love thy neighbor, 0%. Fear and hate gays, 100%.

From the King's Singers statement: "Our belief is that music can build a common language that allows people with different views and perspectives to come together."

But coming together with people of different views is EXACTLY what Christian fundies want to AVOID. They want their bubble to be pure, a blissful refuge of perfect conformity, cookie-cutter humanity.

Lots of luck dealing with the REAL WORLD after you graduate, kids. I'm sure that besides this issue, there are plenty of other things that you have been taught that will collide head-on with reality.

I doubt this school will ever be able to book a group performance ever again now that they have set this precedent. There is no way they will find a single fine arts performance that doesnโ€™t have at least one LGBT person participating.

How are these snowflakes going to function in the real world? I mean, ANYONE could be gay!

"Itโ€™s also a place where a book about classical art in the school library was marked up with a Sharpie in order to censor scandalous thingsโ€ฆ like the cleavage of Mona Lisa."

The first thing (or the last, or anywhere in between) I think of when I see the Mona Lisa isn't nice rack.

The King's singers for crying out loud โ€“ you couldn't get a more uncontroversial lot than that I would have thought. It's not as if they're biting the heads of parrots or whatever. I've been listening to them on and off for years. Their music is ... the only word I can think of is benign. Surprised that a school could afford them mind. I sincerely hope they get paid, and have a nice day off with their feet up.

Still waiting for Christians to quote a single passage in the 4 gospels where Jesus condemns homosexuals/ homosexuality.

Religious hypocrites? THOSE he condemns. Homosexuals? Not a word.
