Shit like this makes me sick, they want a fucking pity party because they have to sell off millions of dollars worth of property. At the same time they are bringing in millions of dollars every year, tax free, I wonder if they got some of that sweet, sweet PPP money. All the while they are selling a nonexistent product, and making mad cash at it. Meanwhile, research groups, like the one I work for, are begging the NIH for funds so we can do useless shit like, I don't know, find new ways to treat muscular dystrophy. Fucking religion poisons everything, and I need to get back into the lab.

OT 2

Looks like Papa Francis is having a fit over couples who choose to have pets instead of kids:

"Pope Francis warns that choosing pets over children 'diminishes us' "

https://news.yahoo.com/pope-francis-warns-choosing-pets-204203044.html

Wanna know what diminishes us, Franky? It's the way you and your religion have mistreated humanity for 2000 years and how you continue to mistreat women, LGBTQs and especially children.

And your words are blatantly self-serving. Couples electing to have pets reduces your stock of those aforementioned children. If this were to continue, you'd find yourself having sex with animals.

Oh Noes! Now how will Denverites know how to be moral? Perhaps they will become environmentalists or support animals, the horror!!!!

---“COVID-19 forced every church in America to rethink how to best serve their parishioners and the broader community,”---

Yes, they did that by staying open, speeding up the spread of infection, and guaranteeing the pandemic continues on for several more years longer than it should have, spawning several new vaccine-resistant variants in the process.

They should be very proud of continuing their death cult's mission.

Happy Insurrection Day, kids!

So it never occurred to the Roberts that instead of selling their church/property, they should spend all their tax-free $$$ to renovate/convert that building and its 32 acres into a place that could take care of the sick and needy the way their messiah wanted his followers to.

And so, another scam does the one and only useful thing it ever has, by shutting down.

Oh, and happy coup-iversary, everybody. Best celebrate democracy while we've still got it.

Had an interesting conversation with vicar relative last week. She says that here in the UK, a debate is going on about livestream services. Apparently someone in her diocese said she loves livestream as she can do the ironing at the same time. So one faction says the church must embrace what could be called the 'Netflix generation' which is accustomed to a vast choice of what to watch whilst the other says that's not what church community is. Whilst some worshippers are put off by blurry sermons broadcast from the vicar's phone, other churches and cathedrals provide good quality professional productions, making services slick and attractive to watch. I ran this past another vicar friend who said - in typical CofE-pander-to-everybody style that in future they'd obviously need to do both, in person and livestream services. Which, ISTM is just another compromise idea which, it will be claimed, revitalises the poor old CofE whilst doing nothing of the sort.

Still trying to blame the government and sneak in the persecution complex. They managed to do the proper thing and fuck it up at the same time.

OT: Star Trek Prodigy picked up again, with episode 6 featuring archived voice clips of Leonard Nimoy, René Auberjonois, Nichelle Nicols, James Doohan, and Gates McFadden repurposed for scene dialogue.

Also, a timeline was established which proved.... problematic.

### Spoilers abound, take care ###

Voyager returned to Earth in 2378-79, but the Prodigy series establishes that the USS Protostar with Holo-Janeway and Captain Chakotay has already been stranded in the Delta Quadrant for several years by 2366. The series itself takes place 17 years after that in 2383, which is verified by press materials according to GameRant.

The USS Protostar's registry (NX-76884) is about two thousand ships ahead of the multi-vector USS Prometheus (NX-74913), which was launched in 2373. The USS Voyager (NCC-74656) was launched in 2371, only about 300 ships behind the Prometheus. Best guess? The USS Protostar was launched in 2384, one year AFTER this series takes place.

EDIT: Just realized that the USS Protostar was stranded *BEFORE* the Voyager was even built. So yeah, most definitely time travel shenanigans involved.

My hope is that all religion of the future becomes fully virtual. A private PPV exercise from home, ideally with the same kind of parental controls as porn has to keep children from accessing it until they reach an age where they can make decisions for themselves.

All donations and charitable giving will hopefully be subject to audit by the IRS, which my retired accountant mother claims this year will be monitoring all private electronic $$ transfers that total $600/year or more in total.

In the present day, Parsonage tax exemptions should go the way of the Dodo if you don't even have a building
